Exploring Arabic speaking countries can be quite an adventure, but you need to know how to ask for directions in Arabic and to understand what you\u2019re told. After all, if you don\u2019t understand the directions, you might miss the very things you hoped to see. <\/p>\n

However, first you need to know how<\/em> to ask for directions<\/a>, as it is a very common situation for the foreigner abroad. To get help you can say men fathlek\/fathleki<\/em> (for male and female, respectively), which means \u201cExcuse me\u201d, or hal beemkanek mosa\u2018adati?<\/em> which translates to \u201cCan you help me?\u201d. Another variation for \u201cExcuse me\u201d is a\u2019afwan<\/em>, and it can be used if you have to stop somebody and ask for the way. You can also use a\u2019afwan<\/em>, as a reply to shukran<\/em> (\u201cThank you\u201d). In this case it means \u201cYou\u2019re welcome\u201d.
