These are common in any language, so let\u2019s cover some basic Arabic slang words in spoken Arabic (or colloquial).<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-yallah\"><strong>Yallah \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>\u064a\u0644\u0627<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Meaning \u201cLet\u2019s go!\u201d or \u201cCome on!\u201d. You say this when you want something to happen or someone to get moving, this is one of <a href=\"https:\/\/staging.kaleelah.com\/blog\/basic-words-in-arabic-the-most-commonly-used\/\">the most common Arabic words<\/a> used. People will use the word&nbsp;<em>yallah<\/em>&nbsp;for everything. For example, from congested traffic or to get people on the dance floor. Using this word will make you feel like a true local.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-hader\"><strong>Hader \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>\u062d\u0627\u0636\u0631<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This is a short answer when someone provides you with any information or explains something and it basically means \u201cOkay, understood\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-inshalla\"><strong>Inshalla \u2013 \u0627\u0646 \u0634\u0627\u0621 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Probably one of the most well-known Arabic words because of how commonly it is used, the word&nbsp;<em>inshallah<\/em>&nbsp;means \u201cIf God is willing\u201d, but most people will use it in the context of meaning \u201cMaybe.\u201d or \u201cI\u2019m not sure. It\u2019s out of my hands\u201d. Use this word when you either really don\u2019t know the answer to something or when you want to get out of answering right away! Truth be told,&nbsp;<em>inshallah<\/em>&nbsp;has unanimously made it to all Arab countries, finding space in any comment or question.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-khalas\"><strong>Khalas \u2013 \u062e\u0644\u0635<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Depending on the situation, there are many different versions (and tones) of&nbsp;<em>khalas<\/em>&nbsp;that Arabs use. The translations are endless, but they all lead in the same direction: \u201cDone!&#8221;, &#8220;Enough!&#8221;, &#8220;Stop it!&#8221;, &#8220;Alright, then\u201d. It can be used to end an argument \u201c<em>khalas<\/em>&nbsp;now!\u201d and said when you finish a task, yell at your kids or even when you tell yourself to stop overthinking. Ok,&nbsp;<em>khalas<\/em>! I\u2019ll stop.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-akeed\"><strong>Akeed \u2013 \u0623\u0643\u064a\u062f<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This means \u201cSure!\/Of course!\u201d Usually used for confirmation, emphasis or to state something so obvious. \u201cYes, a<em>keed<\/em>!\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-ibn-halal\"><strong>Ibn halal \u2013 \u0627\u0628\u0646 \u062d\u0644\u0627\u0644<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This is used to emphasize the good traits in a person.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-walaw\"><strong>Walaw \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>\u0648\u0644\u0648<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>People from the Levant region use this mostly and it means \u201cIt\u2019s ok.\/Of course!\/Don\u2019t mention it!\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-naeman\"><strong>Naeman \u2013 \u0646\u0639\u064a\u0645\u0627\u064b<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This is said when one showers or gets a haircut or a shave. Sometimes you might hear this being said in nail salons after ladies finished their manicure. Basically, it\u2019s kind of like blessing them and saying \u201cCongrats on looking cleaner\/fresher!\u201d and there is certainly no way of saying it in English<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-ya-haram\"><strong>Ya haram \u2013 \u064a\u0627 \u062d\u0631\u0627\u0645<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Used to express sympathy or sadness at something, this word originally means \u201ca sin\u201d but is used as slang to mean something along the lines of \u201cOh, poor thing!\u201d or \u201cI feel sorry for\u2026!\u201d For example, if someone is telling you a story about an accident or someone coming into physical harm, you can answer by saying&nbsp;<em>ya haraam<\/em>!<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The above Arabic sayings are ones that get their message across even if you say them without attaching them to a sentence.
