Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I<br \/>\nwill make him into a great nation.&#8221; Then God opened her eyes and she saw a<br \/>\nwell of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a<br \/>\ndrink.&#8221;<\/i><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Likewise, Islam\u2019s holy book mentions <span style=\"background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;\">zamzam water in Quran<\/span> 2:158 <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-top:0in;margin-right:.5in;margin-bottom:10.0pt;\nmargin-left:.5in;text-align:justify\"><i style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">&#8220;Verily!<br \/>\nAs-Saf\u00e2 and Al-Marwah (two mountains in Makkah) are of the Symbols of All\u00e2h. So<br \/>\nit is not a sin on him who perform Hajj or &#8216;Umrah (pilgrimage) of the House<br \/>\n(the Ka&#8217;bah at Makkah) to perform the going (Taw\u00e2f) between them (As-Saf\u00e2 and<br \/>\nAl-Marwah). And whoever does good voluntarily, then verily, All\u00e2h is<br \/>\nAll-Recogniser, All-Knower.&#8221;<o:p><\/o:p><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Still, even if you\u2019ve never read<br \/>\nabout the <span style=\"background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;\">zamzam well in<br \/>\nthe Bible<\/span> or the Quran, Zamzam\u2019s history is interesting.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">The <span style=\"background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;\">Zamzam<br \/>\nWater Story<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/h1>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">The origins of zamzam lie in the<br \/>\nstory of the prophet Abraham. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Abraham and his wife, Sarah, were<br \/>\nchildless. As a result, Sarah told Abraham to lie with her maidservant, Hagar,<br \/>\nso that he would have an heir. Abraham did as his wife suggested, and indeed,<br \/>\nHagar bore him a son whom Hagar called Ishmael. However, soon after, Sarah came<br \/>\nto regret her decision and became jealous of Hagar. God then told Abraham to<br \/>\ntake Hagar and her son far away from Sarah\u2019s jealous eyes. &nbsp;<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Though he was very sad about<br \/>\nthis, Abraham did as God asked. He took Hagar from Canaan&nbsp;(today\u2019s<br \/>\nLebanon, Syria, Jordan, Israel and Palestine) to the far off barren land of<br \/>\nMecca.&nbsp; Giving her some dates and water,<br \/>\nAbraham turned his back to her and started heading home. As he walked away,<br \/>\nHagar called out, \u201cHas God told you to do this?\u201d <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Abraham shook his head, \u201cYes\u201d. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\"><span style=\"background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;\">Hagar replied, \u201cThen God will not<br \/>\ncause us to be lost.<\/span>\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Inevitably, the two ran out of<br \/>\ndates and water in that dry and desolate land. As a result, the child became<br \/>\nvery thirsty and started crying. Desperate, Hagar ran between the&nbsp;hills of<br \/>\nSafa and Marwa&nbsp;in search of water for her son. On her seventh trip between<br \/>\nthe two hills, an&nbsp;angel&nbsp;appeared before her. \u201cGod has heard Ismael\u2019s<br \/>\ncries,\u201d he said and immediately, a spring burst forth from the ground beneath<br \/>\nIsmael\u2019s heel. Hagar carefully collected some water for herself and her son. The<br \/>\nwell was subsequently named&nbsp;\u201cZamzam\u201d from the phrase \u201c<i>Zom\u00eb Zom\u00eb\u201d<\/i>, meaning &#8220;stop flowing&#8221;.
