Basically, Arabic has two types of sentences: the verbal sentence (\u0627\u0644\u062c\u064f\u0645\u0652\u0644\u064e\u0629\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0641\u0650\u0639\u0652\u0644\u0650\u064a\u064e\u0629\u064f\/al<\/span>jumlatu ilfi\u2018liyyatu<\/span>) and the nominal sentence (\u0627\u0644\u062c\u064f\u0645\u0652\u0644\u064e\u0629\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0627\u0650\u0633\u0652\u0645\u0650\u064a\u064e\u0629\u064f\/al<\/span>jumlatu il<\/span>\u02bc<\/span>ismiyyatu<\/span>). We\u2019ll start with the verbal sentence.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/b><\/p>\n

Verbal Sentences in Arabic<\/span><\/h1>\n

Verbal sentences start with a verb, are followed by a noun, and may or may not contain an object. Look at the following sentence:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u0623\u0643\u064e\u0644\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0631\u0651\u064e\u062c\u064f\u0644\u064f \u0627\u0644\u062a\u0651\u064f\u0641\u0651\u0627\u062d\u064e\u0629\u064e<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\/<\/span>\u02bc<\/span>akala irrajulu ittuffaaHata\/<\/span><\/p>\n

The man ate the apple.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Here you can see the sentence starts with a verb (<\/span>\u0623\u0643\u0644<\/span>\/<\/span>\u02bc<\/span>akalla<\/span>\/\u201cate\u201d) followed by the noun (<\/span>\u0627\u0644\u0631\u0651\u064e\u062c\u064f\u0644\u064f<\/span>\/<\/span>irrajulu<\/span>\/\u201cthe man\u201d) and the object (<\/span>\u0627\u0644\u062a\u0651\u064f\u0641\u0627\u062d\u064e\u0629<\/span>\/<\/span>ittuffaaHah<\/span>\/\u201cthe apple\u201d).<\/span><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s another example:<\/span><\/p>\n

\/kataba \u2018umaru risaalatan\/<\/span><\/p>\n

Omar wrote a letter.<\/span><\/p>\n

Again, this sentence starts with a verb (<\/span>\u0643\u064e\u062a\u064e\u0628\u064e<\/span>\/<\/span>kataba<\/span>\/ \u201cwrote\u201d) followed by the noun (<\/span>\u0639\u064f\u0645\u064e\u0631\u064f<\/span> \/<\/span>\u2018umaru<\/span>\/\u201cOmar\u201d) and then the object (<\/span>\u0631\u0650\u0633\u0627\u0644\u064e\u0629\u064b<\/span>\/<\/span>risaalatan<\/span>\/\u201cletter\u201d).<\/span><\/p>\n

In a verbal sentence, the subject can be a proper noun a common noun, or a pronoun: <\/span><\/p>\n

Nominal Sentences in Arabic<\/span><\/h1>\n

In Arabic, the nominative sentence starts with a noun or pronoun and may or may not have a verb. Regardless if it has a verb or not, however, a nominative sentence never starts with a verb.<\/span><\/p>\n

When it comes to the predicate, the most important thing to remember is that says something about the indicator. For example, in the sentence \u0627\u0644\u0637\u0651\u064e\u0642\u0652\u0633\u064f \u0644\u064e\u0637\u064a\u0641\u064c<\/span> <\/span>\/<\/span>aTTaqsu laTeefun<\/span>\/The weather is beautiful, the predicate \u0644\u064e\u0637\u064a\u0641\u064c\/<\/span>laTeefun<\/span>\/\u201dbeautiful\u201d is describing the indicate \u0627\u0644\u0637\u0651\u064e\u0642\u0652\u0633\u064f<\/span> <\/span>\/<\/span>aTTaqsu<\/span>\/ \u201cthe weather\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, the predicate can also be a noun, a prepositional sentence or a verbal sentence. Let\u2019s look at a sentence where the predicate is a prepositional sentence:<\/span><\/p>\n
